The Club

The Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) is the leading metropolitan horse racing club in Queensland, conducting 98 race meetings and hosting over 300,000 patrons each year.

The BRCs mission is to grow and develop horse racing in Queensland through driving an improved entertainment experience which increases attendances.

Having formed on 1 July, 2009, the BRC has been in business for two years. The BRC was borne as a result of a merger between the Queensland Turf Club (QTC) and Brisbane Turf Club (BTC). The QTC and BTC had a combined racing administration experience of more than 140 years. The amalgamation of the former two clubs is a first of its kind for the Australian racing industry making Queensland the current industry leader.

The Club operates two race tracks, Eagle Farm and Doomben, as well as two world-class polo fields which are located infield at Doomben. The Brisbane Racing Club expanded its business into polo in 2010, forming the Doomben Polo Club. Since that time, two polo events have been held with a further three planned for the second half of 2011.

The BRC family also consists of a 7 day licensed venue, the Brisbane Racing Sports & Social Club, which is situated on the Eagle Farm site, at the corner of Nudgee and Lancaster Roads.

In 2011, the BRC also added the weekly Eagle Farm Markets as another string to its bow.

Our focus is to create mixed-use opportunities for our facilities, ensuring they are enjoyed by the Brisbane community as much and as often as possible.

As a result, a concept master plan was launched in April 2009, proposing a $1.2 billion self-funded project including upgrades to facilities at both Eagle Farm and Doomben race tracks as well as a variety of lifestyle, residential and commercial precincts.

One of the biggest developments in Queensland’s history, one of the primary focuses of the concept master plan is to ensure Brisbane has the country’s finest racing facilities.

The highlight on the BRCs racing calendar is the Brisbane Racing Carnival, run across five consective Saturdays in May and June, which features a rich programme of Group racing including the Doomben 10,000 and the AAMI Stradbroke Handicap. The 2011 Brisbane Racing Carnival was highly successful with a total of 68,891 fans attending the five feature racing events.

Each year the BRC also hosts many other feature racing events and promotions including Anniversary Day, Exhibition Wednesday, Melbourne Cup Day and Girls’ Day Out.

The Brisbane Racing Club also has a burgeoning non-raceday events business hosting everything from Brisbane Festival events such as Opera Under the Stars and Symphony at Sunset to RACQ Motorfest, weddings, school formals and conferences.
