Racing Changes in Brisbane Forever

It’ll be an historic day for Brisbane on Saturday, 4 July as Eagle Farm Racecourse opens the gates for the first time as the Brisbane Racing Club.
Just like the day the Gateway Bridge opened and streams of people scaled its’ height with trepidation. Or, the opening of Expo ’88, when crowds flocked with curious anticipation to South Brisbane to witness first hand what this expo-thing was all about. To be at the first race meeting of the Brisbane Racing Club, is just another moment in time when people can say “I remember when… I was there”.

BRC Chairman Kevin Dixon said the 10 year $1.2 billion development would create thousands of jobs and ensure Brisbane has the country’s finest racing facilities.
“This is a red-letter day for Brisbane racing and for the entire Queensland economy,” Mr Dixon said.
“The scale of this project is immense and will be a much needed shot in the arm for the state’s confidence as the Global Financial Crisis continues.
