2009/10 Racing Season

The Competition

  • This competition is conducted by Brisbane Racing Club Limited;
  • At each Saturday held at Doomben or Eagle Farm Racecourses, the judges will award points on the basis of the best three rides on the day;
  • The winner will be the jockey who has accumulated the most points at the end of the racing season;
  • In the event of a tie, the prize will be awarded to the jockey with the most three point rides;
  • The competition will run during the racing season (1 August 2009 until 31 July 2010);
  • Point scores will be listed in the racebook each week up until the end of April;
  • The competition is open to all riders including apprentices and visiting riders;
  • A jockey will be become ineligible if they are suspended or disqualified for an offence for a period of one month or greater during the racing season.

 Judging

The Judges are:

  1. Bart Sinclair (or in his absence the acting Chief Racing Writer for the Courier Mail);
  2. Wayne Wilson (or in his absence the Acting Course Broadcaster);
  3. Wade Birch (or in his absence the Acting Chief Steward).

Judges will take the following factors into account in awarding points:

  • The purpose is to award points to riders that give their horse every possible chance despite its price or perceived chance of success in the race;
  • Rides do not have to be a winning ride to earn points;
  • Riding within the Rules of Racing and not interfering with other runners is paramount;
  • Judges must distribute their points amongst three jockeys.

Each judge will award their points as follows:

  • the best ride will be awarded three points;
  • the second best ride two points;
  • third best ride one point. 

Prize Details 

The prize includes:

  • 4 nights’ accommodation for 2 people in a fabulous Lagoon Deluxe Room overlooking the Lily Lagoon, Lagoon Pool and tropical gardens;
  • Daily buffet breakfast in Azure, fronting the Hayman Beach;
  • Return luxury transfers between Great Barrier Reef Airport and Hayman;
  • Use of non-motorised watercraft for paddle skiing, windsurfing and catamaran sailing;
  • Use of fitness facilities, including gymnasium, sauna and Jacuzzi;
  • Use of Activities Centre tennis and squash courts, croquet lawn, beachside golf putting green, golf driving range, billiards room and island walking tracks.

The prize does not include:

  • Travel insurance;
  • Items of a personal nature;
  • Meals other than listed.

Please note the following conditions apply:

  • The prize is Non-transferable and not redeemable for cash;
  • Travel details must include the above arrangements;
  • Subject to availability at the time of booking;
  • Travel must be completed within three (3) months of prize being won;
  • Extension travel arrangements (if required) would be at the expense of the prize winner;
  • Travel insurance, meals other than listed, spending money and all other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the prize winner;
  • These conditions form part of the prize.
