Brisbane Racing Club Director Retires

Brisbane Racing Club Chairman Kevin Dixon today announced Director, Eddie Kann's, decision to resign from the Board of the BRC.

Mr Dixon said, "Eddie has given six years sterling service to the racing industry as a director of Queensland Turf Club (QTC) and then BRC."

"Eddie has made a massive contribution to BRC as Deputy Chairman of the Club and as Chairman of the Finance and Governance Sub Committee."

"Eddie is highly respected within the Brisbane business and racing communities and his contribution to racing will be sorely missed."

Mr Kann's resignation is effective at the conclusion of the Board meeting to be held 23 February 2012.

Mr Kann is one of four founding QTC directors of BRC and his vacancy of a QTC Director position is covered in clause 11.7 of the constitution as follows:

"If a QTC Director ceases to hold office prior to the 2012 annual general meeting in accordance with clause 11.4, his position shall be filled by a person who is a Member of the Company, was a member of QTC on the Eligibility Date and is nominated by the remaining QTC Directors on the Board."

The Board has resolved that persons interested in nominating to fill the vacancy as a Director should make application in writing by Friday 2 March 2012.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be a current financial member of BRC and have been a Member of Queensland Turf Club Ltd (QTC) as at 1 May 2009.

In accordance with clause 11.7 above, applicants will be interviewed by a subcommittee of the Board, being the remaining QTC Directors Bill Sexton, Neville Bell, and David Dawson, who will make a nomination to the Board.

The Board will ratify the appointment at a meeting of Directors to be held Friday 23 March 2012.
