Brisbane Saddles Up for Dazzling Spring Diary Dates

The impressive Spring calendar kicks off on Saturday October 2 at Eagle Farm with starters readying themselves for eight action packed horse races and Brisbane’s Inaugural Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling Stiletto Run. The stakes for the winning stiletto runner are set at $5000 cash with five placegetters each receiving a pair of Vivienne Westwood stilettos from Izabel + Sebastian. Off the track, highlights will include Myer Fashions on the Field, a live DJ, free foot massages in the Thai Foot Spa, makeup touch ups in the Runway Express Pamper Parlour and cosmopolitans at the cocktail bar.

 

On Saturday October 9 the second annual Mimiki Foundation Bundaberg Red Raceday will be held at Eagle Farm. A popular social event in 2009, this year’s event is already shaping up to be even bigger and better. Tickets to the Mimiki Foundation’s exclusive function are $150 and include food, drinks and transfers to the After Party. For the punters, there’s good betting on interstate races including the Group 1s; Caulfield Guineas, Toorak Handicap and Yalumba Stakes.

 

Saturday October 16 is the Stanton Mienert Raceday at Eagle Farm when all eyes will be on the Group 1 Caulfield Cup, one of the world’s richest handicap races run over a distance of 2400 metres. The Caulfield Cup is an important lead in to the Melbourne Cup with winners of this race often featuring prominently when they contest the nation’s greatest race in November. Off the track, there’ll be live music and an all you can eat buffet too.

 

On Saturday October 23, Brisbane take your pick; Spring Racing or Polo? At Eagle Farm, there’s the Bidvest Raceday and at Doomben, Paspaley Polo in the City. Paspaley Polo in the City brings together a dazzling combination of the world’s fastest ball sport with hospitality and entertainment to form an unforgettable day out for Brisbane. Tickets are onsale now through Ticketmaster. The Paspaley VIP Marquee ($278.50) will offer a chic and vibrant experience complete with Veuve Cliquot and lunch prepared by celebrated Australian chef and owner of Brisbane’s e’cco restaurant, Philip Johnson. Tipped to be immensely popular, the Coopers Bar ($55) will offer direct views of the polo field and a wide choice of food and bars from the within the marquee. Other features will include an After Party with DJ Andy Murphy providing the tunes.

 

And then on Tuesday November 2, Brisbane’s passion for equine sport will reach its zenith as the country’s most popular race, the Melbourne Cup is run at Flemington.
