From Online to Track: Facebook Event No Longer Virtual at Doomben
New for 2010, the Brisbane Racing Club’s (BRC) Facebook Friends Party is a unique event on Brisbane’s social calendar where virtual social networking becomes reality as racegoers party trackside with friends.
The Facebook Friends Party enclosure on Saturday, 11 September will offer plenty for groups to enjoy their day at the races. Like the photo booth with instant Facebook uploads. Party guests can have their photo taken against a green screen then choose one of three backdrops; the Yellowglen red carpet for aspiring A-Listers, the thrill of being a jockey or simply, a trackside scene at the races. Racegoers will be able to instantly “tag” themselves in photos by logging on to the Brisbane Racing Club’s Facebook page.
In keeping with the social networking theme, the Blink Speed Dating sessions are bound to be popular with party guests, who want to mix and mingle and grow their Facebook friends list.
Providing the party beats will be Sinfidelity, a collaboration of DJs with sax, percussion, guitar, trumpet & singers well known for their eclectic blend of groove/ lounge tunes and soulful funky house beats.
All this and more will be available in the Facebook Friends Party enclosure, trackside at Doomben. An expansive marquee situated in the centre of the enclosure will have plenty of seating whilst the rest of the enclosure will feature garden seating and courtyard umbrellas.
The Yellowglen Bar and Carlton Dry Bar will offer a range of wines and beers whilst food stations will be serving delicious menu items including fresh natural oysters, prawns, noodle boxes and cute little cupcakes.
Tickets are just $15 or racegoers who spend $26 will receive a free ticket to the races and also 26 BRC dollar vouchers redeemable on food and drink items in the enclosure. For more information visit www.brc.com.au.
