Media Release: Ricki-Lee Live in Concert at Brisbane’s Racefest
Australia’s pop darling, Ricki-Lee, will perform a live concert kicking off the Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival at Doomben Racecourse on May 15.
Ricki-Lee’s stardom has shot to new heights since her single Can’t Touch It was used on the recent worldwide release of the Sex & the City 2 movie trailer. Can’t Touch It was written by Ricki-Lee whilst in New York and is about “girl-power” in the City that never sleeps, perfectly fitting the Sex & the City philosophy.
Can’t Touch It, from the album Brand New Day, shot to #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart, spending 38 weeks in the top 100. In fact Ricki-Lee has had nine #1 AIR (Independent) Chart hits and eight Top 20 ARIA hit singles across a couple of short years, which are impressive stats for any independent signed pop act in this country.
Apart from chart topping releases such as Can’t Touch It, Hell No!, Don’t Miss You and Hear No, See No, Speak No, fans will also be able to enjoy other huge hits including Sunshine, Love Is All Around and Wiggle It as Ricki-Lee performs a huge one hour live show with her band.
Racefest brings to life the 2010 Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival, which runs across five consecutive Saturdays until June 12.
The main attraction is the Group 1 Bundaberg Red BTC Cup run over 1200 metres.
The 2009 event delivered the race of the Carnival as Australia’s favourite sprinter, Apache Cat, fought out the tightest of finishes with Bank Robber and the eventual winner Duporth. Which turf celebrity will win this year?
Other entertainment will include the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE Fashions on the Field Student Design Category. Hosted by Seven presenter Richard Champion, this Fashions on the Field competition is for budding designers to show off their talents and wares.
There will also be a Smirnoff Cocktails Bar, Bundaberg Bar and live music all day with Sinfidelity.
Tickets are just $25 through Ticketek (plus booking fee) to experience Racefest and all that makes this event the hottest racing party of the year.
And the Brisbane Racing Club is adding more to your Racefest ticket by giving a Value Passport to every person who attends the event. The Value Passport is stacked full of ten special discounts and offers from retailers including Roses Only, Dreamworld & Whitewater World and Napoleon Perdis.
The fastest and easiest way to get to Doomben is by public transport. Further details are available at http://www.translink.com.au.
