Myer Fashions on the Field: Ladies Racewear Category

The weather was fine, the racing outstanding, but the fashions at Treasury Casino Oaks Ladies’ Day stole the day. The Myer Fashions on the Field showcased some amazing racewear trends and the latest in millinery. With some very special guest judges including, international milliner Peter Jago, as well as top Brisbane stylists; the judges were very impressed with Brisbane’s overall racing style.

The competition was fierce among over 70 entrants, and finalists were selected according to some very thorough criteria; including, the style and originality of outfits style and appropriateness for the individual, as well as complimenting accessories such as headwear, gloves and shoes.

With some tough decision making to be made, the judging panel commented on the high calibre of entrants. The winner of the Myer Fashions on the Field, Chantelle Johnson portrayed an elegant racewear ensemble with fine attention to details, an impressive headpiece and finished with a fur shawl.

A far cry from her previous task of riding morning trackwork, Chantelle has a close tie to the racing scene. Originally from Sydney and being involved with working the horses, her participation in the Fashions on the Field shows how diverse the racing world truly is. From starting at dusk, to strutting your best outfit on stage and enjoying the indulgent hospitality on offer at the Brisbane Racing Club, there is always something for everyone.

First prize for the Myer Fashions on the field includes a $1000 Basque Myer Fashion Voucher, a two day trip to the Victorian Oaks Day, as well as an indulgent hospitality package from Treasury Casino and Hotel.

Peter Jago’s Most Unique hat was awarded to Britney McClone who also took out the First Runner Up. Peter Jago also spoke at the Fashion Forum about the latest trends in millinery colours and textures, as well as hat styles that compliment face shapes.

If you didn’t get a chance to see all the glamour on Oaks Day, then next week be sure to register again for the Myer Fashions on the Field on Stradbroke Day, with a chance to win an overseas racing trip to Hong Kong.
