Treasury Casino QLD Ladies' Oaks day wasn't short of colour, drama and action amongst the 11,000 strong crowd.
The competition was fierce across all eight races, with two protests keeping stewards busy.
Oaks favourite Dariana failed to jump away with the field, after getting stuck in the barriers. Stewards have advised the Cummings stable that the filly will be required to pass a barrier test, to qualify for the Queensland Derby this Saturday.
Chris Munce was heralded after his ride on Miss Keepsake in the Oaks, coming from the tail of the field to record a strong win.
While the fillies were shining on the track, there was certainly plenty of glitz, glamour and colour off the track – and it wasn't just coming from the ladies!
Renowned Milliner, Peter Jago certainly added to the colourful atmosphere at Eagle Farm. Entertaining onlookers in a Fashion Forum, Peter educated ladies on what hats and fascinators suit particular shaped faces.
Peter then joined a panel of judges for the Myer Fashions on the Field, who deliberated over 80 entrants and their outfits.
The eventual winner was 23 year old Chantelle Johnson from Sydney. Chantelle's mother created the outfit for this pint sized model, who until last year was an apprentice jockey.
