Dave Whimpey

Position: Chief Executive Officer

Qualifications & Experience: Dave has a diverse background in finance and operations in senior executive positions within companies such as Hilton, Jupiters, KPMG, Tabcorp and Coles.  With a corporate career spanning 20 plus years in finance and operations, a leader of teams of up to 3,000 staff with $400m budgets, Dave’s various expertise along with his hands on approach are well suited to transform the BRC. Dave holds a Masters in Business Administration from Surrey university (UK) while studying at Bond University in their affiliate program.


James Versace

Position: Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications & Experience: James is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and has a Commerce degree majoring in Finance & Accounting, and law. He comes with over 20 years’ experience in providing strategic counsel, executive leadership, financial risk management and profit maximisation strategies for companies in Australia and overseas. James spent 12 years with The Star Entertainment Group an ASX listed top 100 company, where for the majority of the time he was General Manager of Finance Treasury Hotel and Casino Brisbane. He also spent several years in Investment banking in London and Sydney with Credit Suisse First Boston.


Paul Williams

Position: Director of Operations

Qualifications & Experience: Paul has over 25 years’ experience in hospitality management including senior management roles within companies Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in the Middle East, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre and the Stanley Hotel and Suites hotel in Papua New Guinea. With experience managing multi outlets including Events for the Saudi Arabian King, Crown Prince,  Royal Palaces and International Embassies, Paul is equipped to deliver outstanding customer experiences at Brisbane Racing Club.


Scott Steele

Position: Manager - Strategic Business Development

Qualifications & Experience: Scott has over 20 years’ experience in hospitality management including senior management roles with several leading Queensland Clubs. He is also a current Queensland committee member of the Club Managers Association of Australia. A keen racing enthusiast, Scott has interests in both thoroughbred and standardbred ownership.


Katie Churchill

Position: General Manager – Sales

Qualifications & Experience: Katie has a Bachelor of Business majoring in Events Management and is currently studying for her Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Katie has been with the Brisbane Racing Club (initially the Queensland Turf Club) for eight years during which time she has developed a robust understanding of the business and come to be a keen racing enthusiast.
