It’s a Race Day with history and heart; a sure winner in the charity stakes.
Since its debut at Beaudesert Racecourse in 1989, the Annual Mt Olivet Charity Race Day has raised more than $1.5 million to assist the hospital now known as St Vincent’s Brisbane.
On July 25, loyal supporters will join the new Archbishop of Brisbane, The Most Reverend Mark Coleridge, to continue the tradition by participating in this year’s event at Eagle Farm Racecourse.
According to Mt Olivet Charity Race Day Committee Chairman, Dr Ian Marshall KC*SG, the Race Day’s success is testament to the loyal support of many individuals and businesses over the past two decades.
“We commend our sponsors, donors and those who attend the event for their charitable backing,” Dr Marshall said.
“In particular, we thank the Brisbane Racing Club for their commitment to the cause. Their ongoing assistance is deeply valued by the organising Committee.”
From form guide devotees to the fashion literate, and to those who simply enjoy a great day out, the 24th Annual Mt Olivet Charity Race Day will offer something for everyone.
As is the custom, prizes will be awarded for the Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Male on the day along with the opportunity to win a selection of great raffle prizes including a voucher from Brisbane fashion designer Pia Du Pradal and an Apple iPad donated by iHEAR Jindalee and Corinda.
Other event supporters include Rode Pools, the Breakfast Creek Cricketers Club and The Bernborough Club who are each sponsoring a race on the program.
The Race Day Committee’s target is to raise $50 000 to purchase falls monitors for the hospital; important equipment in providing quality care for its elderly patients.
Tickets are available online at www.stvincentsbrisbane.com for $110 per person and include entry to the Racecourse, a three-course luncheon and drinks, and a complimentary race book.
