Brisbane-born mezzo-soprano Xenia Puskarz Thomas wowed the audience earlier this year at Brisbane Racing Club’s Opera Under the Stars. Now she returns to embrace the improvisation rhythms of jazz at this gala evening event of the Stradbroke Season racing carnival.
Joining Xenia for Jazz Under the Stars on the manicured Members Lawn at Eagle Farm Racecourse is versatile six-piece ensemble the Straight Up Jazz Collective.
A feast of fine food, including succulent seafood and slow cooked beef, plus premium bubbles, wine, and beer will accompany the fine music.

18 hour slow cooked Cape Grim ox cheek, splash of Barossa red, star anise, cinnamon, orange on a bed of confit garlic scented cauliflower puree with buttered greens (gf)

Xenia Puskarz Thomas
Brisbane-born Xenia Puskarz Thomas was awarded a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in 2018 with first class honours and the University Medal for Academic Achievement.
Whilst Xenia is a professional mezzo-soprano singer her ability to delight audiences by transitioning to the style of Jazz music is remarkable.
Xenia is also a Kovner Fellow at The Juilliard School, New York under Professor Edith Wiens.
Straight Up Jazz Collective
The Straight Up Jazz Collective is a versatile jazz orchestra that specialises in entertaining at corporate events, venue parties, and hosting unique and bespoke jazz shows. Known best for their swinging
performances of classic jazz hits, they also regularly premiere brand new Brisbane jazz compositions. This vibrant ensemble is eager to present a night of Jazz as a 6-piece combo, featuring the voices of Xenia Puskarz Thomas and Matthew Copley
