Doomben Racecourse is set to add a distinctly Queensland feature to its raceday experience, with a swimming pool being installed trackside on the Public Lawn as part of a new partnership with Century Pools.
The pool will provide a striking new addition to Doomben and, while initially serving as a display, Brisbane Racing Club will explore opportunities to incorporate it into selected raceday activations and experiences during the partnership.
The new installation forms part of a major partnership between Brisbane Racing Club and Century Pools, which launches on Saturday with Century Pools Family Raceday.
Positioned on the Public Lawn overlooking the Doomben track, the pool will bring something genuinely different to the racecourse and provide a natural fit with Brisbane’s spring and summer racing calendar.
“A pool trackside at Doomben is certainly something a little different and we think it will be a great addition to the raceday experience,” BRC CEO Karl deKroo said.
“Spring and summer racing in Brisbane has its own character, and this is another opportunity to bring some of that Queensland flavour trackside.
“The pool will initially operate as a display and we’ll look at opportunities to bring it to life through different activations during the partnership.”
The partnership launches at Century Pools Family Raceday, featuring live racing alongside a full program of family entertainment.
The day will include pony rides, face painting and live entertainment, headlined by The Tree of Wisdom and Dorothy the Dinosaur Show featuring Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Captain Feathersword and Henry the Octopus. Children will also have the opportunity to meet their favourite characters following each show, with free entry for kids.
The Family Raceday comes ahead of a busy spring and summer period for BRC, with the Ladbrokes Spring Racing Carnival commencing on 11 October before Brisbane’s Road to Magic Millions takes racing through to 3 January 2027.
Century Pools representative Mel Oliver said the Doomben installation represented an exciting opportunity to showcase the pool in a unique environment.
“This will be a fantastic opportunity to create something different at Doomben and showcase our product to racegoers throughout the partnership,” Ms Oliver said.
“We’re pleased to have delivered the installation in time for our first sponsored raceday and look forward to seeing it become part of the Doomben landscape.”
The new partnership will see Century Pools work with BRC across its racing and event program, with further activations planned throughout the season.
