A new look for The Star Stradbroke Season Fashions on the Field

Brisbane Racing Club is delighted to welcome Duke Realty as its naming partner for a re-energised Fashions on the Field competition during The Star Stradbroke Season 2023.

Brisbane prestige property agency Duke Realty currently represents two landmark projects in Eagle Farm-neighbouring Hamilton and director Sam Patterson says fashion and style are a big part of real estate lifestyle storytelling.

“Being a part of Fashions on the Field for The Star Stradbroke Season is a dream partnership for us,” Sam says.

“I love racing and am passionate about fashion – it goes is hand-in-hand with the lifestyle of our audience. It’ll be great to see everyone at the track and giving it their best shot.”

BRC also welcomes as its new Fashions on the Field director, Queensland fashion advocate Laura Churchill, director of Fashion Queensland and Brisbane Fashion Month.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Brisbane Racing Club to re-ignite the incredible legacy around racing fashion during The Star Stradbroke Season,” Laura says.

“The winners’ prize pool is $40,000 across three days of competition which is really exciting, including an incredible prize offer from our fashion partner Perri Cutten.

“We have a new team in place to create a great experience for entrants and spectators.

“There’s nothing quite like a day at the races to flex your style and I can’t wait to see it all come together amid the excitement and energy of a day at the track during winter racing season.”

The Duke Realty Fashions on the Field competition is consolidated to the season's final three days: Ladbrokes Derby Day (27 May), Channel 7 Oaks Day (3 June) and The Star Stradbroke Day (10 June).

An inclusive format this year replaces the previous gender-based women’s and men’s racewear categories, with the panel of judges each day choosing the top three best dressed, who will be awarded an array of prizes, including fashion, fragrance and jewellery.

Laura says judges will be looking for the ultimate expression of racing fashion for the Queensland climate – innovative, sophisticated, put-together looks that stand out in the crowd.

On Channel 7 Oaks Day there’s an exciting new Emerging Designer Award. The newly created award will go to the entrant who created their look or partnered with a student, recent graduate, or new designer or maker on their design.

“The award is really aimed at encouraging emerging, racing or event-focused designers to present something that showcases their unique racing fashion style,” Laura says.

“We’re putting together a fantastic prize package that will hopefully encourage some great entries from local and interstate designers.”
