BRC Supports Foodbank Hamper Packing Day

Wednesday, 31 October 2018

The Brisbane Racing Club is proud to support the annual Foodbank Hamper Packing Day on Friday 7 December which aims to end hunger in Australia by delivering everyday grocery items to Queenslanders in need.

Held at Eagle Farm Racecourse, the Hamper Packing Day will attract up to 140 volunteers including Brisbane Racing Club staff.

The event is co-ordinated by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA), the Australian Packaging and Machinery Association (APPMA) and a number of other industry associations.

For most of these associations, rather than holding the standard Christmas party members, staff, colleagues, family and friends are invited to be a part of something very special; packing 1000x Family Hampers and 300x Ladies Hampers which are given to Foodbank to help those in need during the holiday season.

Over the last seven years, the industry associations have packed over 6500 hampers to the value of in excess of $700,000 for people in need, with all of the items either donated, or the funds raised by the Associations and the wider industry.

Brisbane Racing Club invite any Members and the general public to join in the goodwill and help us pack the hampers on the Friday 7 December. Tickets to join in the fun are $35 for adults and include a delicious lunch, two beverages (including selected beer, wine and sparkling) and lots of fun - this is no ordinary production line! There are games, challenges and raffles held throughout the day!

All ages are invited to attend this special event with the oldest volunteer to date being 85 and the youngest 5.
