2022 TAB Stradbroke Handicap Barrier Draw

8 June, 2022

Punters got a clearer picture of the 2022 TAB Stradbroke Handicap with the barrier draw taking place in King George Square last night.

Owners and punters alike watched on with anticipation as the final pieces of an ever-intriguing puzzle came together.

The two most interesting tales of the TAB Stradbroke Barrier Draw were early favourite Ayrton and NSW challenger Eleven Eleven.

In what many consider a blow to the chances of the Price/Kent trained four-year-old, Ayrton drew Barrier 19.

TAB fixed-odds markets reflected the concern of punters, the winner of last year’s Gunsynd Classic immediately drifting from $4.60 to $5.

Don’t be quick to assume the task is insurmountable however, with 11 of the last 20 Stradbroke winners coming from double figure draws.

It was a completely opposite tale for the Greg Hickman trained Eleven Eleven, snapping up Barrier 5 and confidence levels soaring for the son of Fastnet Rock.

Punters were quick to act on the dual Magic Millions Cup winner, his price shortening from $7 to $6. This confidence clearly not wavering with further money overnight pushing the galloper into equal favouritism at $5.

There were cheers aplenty when hometown hero and Kingsford Smith Cup victor Apache Chase drew Barrier 3. The Desleigh Forster camp will no doubt be happy with an inside draw as they chase two Group 1 victories in as many weeks.

Betting following the draw saw the four-old-gelding firm half a point from his original $9 quote, settling this morning at $9.50.
