Announcing New CEO

Wednesday, 3 July 2019

We’re excited to announce that Tony Partridge has been appointed as the Brisbane Racing Club’s new CEO.

Tony brings to the BRC a rich background in racing and sport and wider commercial experience. Tony was the Chief Operating Officer and Acting CEO of the Australian Turf Club until 2017. In almost four years across those roles, Tony led commercial and operations for Sydney’s only race club. The ATC conducts over 100 race meetings a year across Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Canterbury and Warwick Farm. More recently Tony has worked for Deloitte providing commercial advisory services to sports and entertainment clients in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Tony, who is a lawyer by trade, joined the ATC after a long and successful period at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium. As General Counsel and Commercial Director, Tony helped grow the ANZ Stadium business after the Olympics to the stage where it regularly conducted over 50 events each year. Tony worked with the four codes of football, cricket and concert promoters on major events and with broadcasters, wagering providers, suppliers and major sponsors in the racing industry.

Tony is delighted to return to work in the racing industry. He’s long had a passion for racing. He grew up riding horses and more recently has owned shares in multiple thoroughbreds.

“I am excited to be joining the Brisbane Racing Club at a time when the future is so bright,” Tony said. “The Club has a solid strategic plan in place to build upon. I look forward to working with the BRC team and all stakeholders on elevating Queensland’s premium racing events, improving Member and customer experiences, attracting new customers and growing the business.”

Tony will join the BRC at an exciting time for our Club. The Master Plan continues to advance, creating the most dynamic racing precinct in the country. The Club that was built around racing more than 150 years ago has diversified into so much more in this modern era. However, racing is our core business and Tony comes to the BRC with great understanding and experience in an industry that we all love.

He will again work with our General Manager – Racing, Matt Rudolph. Tony and Matt were together at the ATC during a period of growth and innovation for that Club. Tony will lead our talented team, which delivered a memorable Brisbane Racing Carnival.

We had strong interest in the CEO position with high-quality applications from across the country and beyond. We were grateful for the level of interest and took our time to ensure that the best candidate was selected for the role.

We look forward to welcoming Tony, his wife and young daughter as they relocate to Brisbane. Tony will begin in the role on August 5.
