Press Release - 15 November, 2021

Brisbane Racing Club has announced the signing of a new partnership with Southern Suburbs Magpies Junior Rugby League Club.

This partnership will see the BRC become a major sponsor to the Souths Magpies inaugural Brisbane Rugby League (BRL) team.

BRC are proud to support the Souths Magpies entry into the BRL Premier Grade competition for the 2022 season.

BRC Chief Executive Officer Tony Partridge said of the announcement, “The new partnership is an exciting prospect for both clubs, continuing a longstanding relationship.”

“The relationship is a natural fit for both parties as BRC’s community support continues to grow throughout Brisbane’s Southern Suburbs and both clubs mutually aligned through Souths Sports Club located next door at Mortimer Park,” he said.

Brisbane Racing Club will feature prominently on the Souths Magpies jersey, set to be unveiled at the upcoming Souths Juniors BRL Launch function held at Eagle Farm Racecourse’s Guineas Room at Ascot Green Grand Prix Stakes Raceday on December 18.

The lunch will be hosted by leading Rugby League commentator Peter Psaltis with guest speakers including Brisbane Bronco’s Football and Performance Director Ben Ikin and former South Magpies club Oldboy Gary Belcher.

Southern Suburbs Magpies Juniors BRL Premier Grade Side Chairman Ken Brown said “We are delighted to receive the support of the Brisbane Racing Club in such a momentous year for the club.”

“I invite BRC Members and Souths Magpies supporters to celebrate the new partnership by attending our Launch at Eagle Farm,” he said.

Tickets to the function will be available to the public tomorrow, 16 November 2021. To secure your spot head to brc.com.au.
