BRC’s Stradbroke Season 2022 wins Queensland Major Event Award

Brisbane Racing Club’s Stradbroke Season 2022 has been named winner of the Major Event or Festival Award in the 2021-2022 Meeting & Events Australia (MEA) Queensland State Awards.

The award was made on Thursday 11 May at the State Awards dinner held at Izakaya Publico restaurant at Brisbane’s Hotel Indigo.

The MEA Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements and expertise of individuals and organisations in the events sector, rewarding excellence, creativity and professionalism in the design, management, delivery, servicing and advancement of the events industry in Australia.

All MEA state winners progress to the National Awards, which will be announced at a Gala Dinner on 8 June at The Star Gold Coast. The dinner follows the MEA’s two-day annual conference, EVOLVE 2023.

BRC Chief Executive Officer Tony Partridge said the Club was honoured to have won the Queensland award, which recognised the hard work and dedication of staff in delivering a first-class event.

“It is wonderful to see Stradbroke Season 2022 recognised in this way, particularly after the weather challenges that had to be overcome,” Mr Partridge said.

“The BRC team delivered Queensland’s premier Group racing carnival despite torrential rain causing a venue transfer for Doomben 10,000 Day and rescheduling races from Doomben Cup Day.

“They put the adversity behind them to put together a super Saturday of Group racing on Derby Day and a spectacular Oaks Day and Stradbroke Day.”
