BRC TV at Inglis Easter Sales

AUSTRALIA’S biggest trainers were in Sydney this week searching for the next superstars from the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

While the big race attention is still focused on The Championships at Randwick, trainers are starting to sort out the likely teams they have for Stradbroke Season.

BRC TV spoke to a number of trainers at the sales to see what they have planned for our carnival.

Ciaron Maher has been a frequent visitor to Queensland since Srikandi gave him a winner with his very first runner back on the Gold Coast in 2014. She won the Stradbroke the very next year, giving Maher a bigger appetite for success in the Sunshine State. He won the 2017 Queensland Derby with Ruthven and since joining forces with training partner David Eustace, the trend has continued, with the pair adding a Doomben Cup with Kenedna and dual Magic Millions 2YO Classic wins.

Maher is hopeful of unearthing more promising types in Queensland through May and June.

Mick Price based himself in Queensland for a number of weeks during the Covid restrictions last year, overseeing the preparation of one-time Stradbroke favourite Ayrton.

The now four-year-old is back for another carnival tilt in 2022, but Price is planning on a very different path, as he outlined to us this week.

Danny Williams has enjoyed huge success in recent weeks with new cult hero Shelby Sixty Six and the campaign is far from over, with The Galaxy winner headed to Queensland.

Stradbroke Season, Presented by TAB, officially begins on April 30, with the running of the Group 2 Queensland Guineas and Group 2 Victory Stakes.

The first Group 1 of the carnival is the Doomben 10,000, to be run on May 14 at Doomben.

Stradbroke Season culminates with the running of the $1.5Million Stradbroke on June 11 at Eagle Farm.
