BRC welcomes Channel Seven coverage of the historic TAB Stradbroke Season

Friday, 8 May 2020

The Brisbane Racing Club is delighted that all four days of the historic 2020 TAB Stradbroke Season will be shown on free-to-air television with the Seven Network.

Brisbane racing will be shown in conjunction with Sydney and Melbourne racing on Channel Seven over the four feature days of the TAB Stradbroke Season – May 23 and 30 and June 6 and 13.

BRC Chief Executive Tony Partridge welcomed the new partnership between racing organisations, enabling the sport to be showcased into loungerooms across the country for the next six Saturdays.

The free-to-air coverage begins tomorrow when Seven shows races from Sydney, Melbourne and the Adelaide carnival.  Adelaide will also be shown on Saturday May 16 before the attention turns to Brisbane.

“It’s great news for our BRC Members and for all racing fans that our four showcase meetings, including 12 Group races, will be on free-to-air television,’’ Mr Partridge said.

“This provides great coverage thanks to our partners who are continuing to support the racing industry and it should provide a major boost to betting turnover. It’s been achieved thanks to the collaboration between two of the strongest supporters of Brisbane racing – Channel Seven and Sky Racing.’’

Sky Racing coverage of the Eagle Farm and Doomben meetings remains unchanged.

Mr Partridge said Queensland punters would welcome the chance to watch the three main meetings along the eastern seaboard on one channel over the four BRC racedays.

The Channel Seven coverage will be hosted by Bruce McAvaney with input from Sky Racing and racing.com commentators.

Racing has fortunately continued while all other major sports have been placed on hold.

“Racing has been granted an opportunity to attract interest from sports-starved fans who may not have been followers previously. This partnership with the Seven Network enables us to engage a wider audience through free-to-air television,’’ Partridge added.

The four TAB Stradbroke Season meetings are:

  • May 23 – Moët & Chandon Champagne Classic Day at Eagle Farm Racecourse
  • May 30 – XXXX Dry Chairman’s Cup Day at Doomben Racecourse
  • June 6 – TAB Stradbroke Day at Eagle Farm Racecourse
  • June 13 – Quincy Ladies’ Day at Eagle Farm Racecourse
