The Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival is almost upon us, with the first of our black-type racing this Saturday featuring four Listed races at Doomben. We follow that at Eagle Farm seven days later with the Group 2 Victory Stakes attracting the likes of Redzel. This will be Redzel’s final step towards the $800,000 Group 1 TAB Doomben 10,000 on May 11.

We are delighted to announce that our most prestigious racedays will be telecast into homes around the country after an exclusive agreement between the BRC and the Seven Network.

Our Brisbane Racing Carnival will feature on the free-to-air network with four meetings to be televised including:

• May 11: TAB Doomben 10,000 Day
• May 25: KIRIN Stakes Day
• June 1: Treasury Brisbane Ladies’ Oaks Day
• June 8: TAB Stradbroke Day

We are delighted to stretch our long-running partnership with the Seven Network into the most significant free-to-air agreement reached in BRC history.

This is the first time that we will be able to showcase a stretch of world-class Brisbane race meetings to all Australians. Our Brisbane carnival deserves this exposure – the carnival folklore includes the likes of Black Caviar, Winx, Kingston Town, Tulloch and our great Queensland horses such as Bernborough and Strawberry Road. The list continues to grow with The Autumn Sun’s emergence in last year’s carnival.

It’s fitting that it’s happened with the Seven Network because their support for Brisbane racing goes back decades. We are looking forward to Channel Seven taking the best of Queensland racing well beyond our state. Each raceday will be telecast for a minimum of two-and-a-half hours.

This agreement will have a positive impact on wagering turnover, which is the lifeblood of the industry for all Queensland participants. The agreement was made possible by Racing Queensland which, under its telecast arrangement with the Seven Network, allocated an extra three free-to-air race meetings to the 2019 Brisbane Racing Carnival.

Tabcorp has secured exclusive wagering rights with the Seven Network for the coverage that will be carried on free-to-air channels along with Seven’s digital distribution.

I look forward to seeing you at Eagle Farm and Doomben in the coming weeks for this most exciting time of the year.

- Neville Bell, Chairman
