Deep Image Looks to Follow in Family Footsteps

Tuesday, 2 June 2020

The Rob Heathcote-trained Deep Image will join some illustrious family Group 1 winners if he can land the TAB Stradbroke on Saturday.

Deep Image is a six-year-old by the well performed stallion Testa Rossa out of an unraced Redoute’s Choice mare Starwish who has produced a number of winners in mainly moderate company.

His second dam Stella Cadente, by Centaine, was a classy filly on the track where her five wins included the Group 1 Australia Stakes and the Group 3 Tea Rose Stakes.

But further into Deep Image’s bloodlines the feature race success really hots up.

Third dam Temple Fire was a half-sister to Bint Marscay (Golden Slipper), Filante (Epsom Handicap, Yalumba Stakes) and Kenny’s Best Pal (Australian Guineas).

Deep Image has been a highly consistent performer for Heathcote since he joined the stable in the middle of last year.

In particular Deep Image has been racing extremely well on the Eagle Farm track. Since September he has started on the track six times for four wins including two over the Stradbroke distance of 1400 metres.

His past two lead-up runs have been excellent. He was beaten a whisker by Tambo’s Mate in the BRC Sprint at Doomben and then a handy third in the Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm on May 23 when he was handicapped by a wide draw.
