Well Groomed Racing’s Lorilie Cunningham outlined her passion for showcasing horse racing and how she wants people to understand what a great sport racing is to be involved in and how well cared for the racing animals are.
The function doubled as a fundraiser for the Transitioning Thoroughbreds Foundation, an organisation set up by Jane Gollan where retired racehorses go to be trained for life after racing.
The function played out to a backdrop of eight races at headquarters, with jockey Larry Cassidy claiming an early double on Southern Stock for Chris Munce and then Hallowed Girl for fellow Eagle Farm trainer Chris Anderson.
The latter race was won by Cassidy in the stewards room after successfully arguing first past the post Cosmic Gossip cost him being able to fully test Hallowed Girl. There were no protest issues in the first race though, with Southern Stock clearing out to win by seven lengths.
Hallowed Girl was the first leg of a winning double for Anderson, who took out the 3YO C&G Maiden with impressive debutant Shalaa King, who races in the famous colours of the late Dato Tan Chin Nam’s Think Big Stud.
The Brisbane Racing Club would like to extend a warm congratulations to Well Groomed Racing for their contribution to racing and the very worthy cause of Transitioning Thoroughbreds.
