Mid-Week Wrap-Up - 22 Sep, 2021

Fresh off a double at the Gold Coast last Saturday, the combination of Tony Gollan and Stephanie Thornton teamed up for a mid-week double at Doomben Racecourse.

BRC Ambassador Thornton was aboard both Not A Choice and Big Muskie for Gollan, when both broke through for their maiden wins.

Not A Choice, a recent addition to the Gollan stable was a dominant winner in the second race. The beautifully-bred four-year-old mare pulled away from the field to win by 2.75 lengths in her second start since arriving north of the border for prominent owners Graham and Linda Huddy of Peachester Lodge.

The well-backed Big Muskie survived a late challenge to claim his first victory, narrowly edging out Kelly Schweida’s Regal Edition.

Schweida didn’t miss out however, also training a double on the day with Montenegro Man and Sienna’s Choice, the latter building on a purple patch of form, notching her third win in a row.

Jim Byrne, who was aboard the hat-trick horse, also bookended the meeting for Chris Waller.

Byrne’s wins aboard Merimee and Jack The Lad secured Waller a double, himself a treble and moved him to equal first on the Queensland Metro Jockey Premiership.
