Reflecting on 2019 & Looking forward to a great 2020!

Monday, 23 December 2019

Just in time for Christmas, we have received the good news that the TAB Doomben 10,000 will increase in prizemoney to $1 million next year. Racing Queensland has confirmed that the 2020 Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival, presented by TAB, will have five races worth seven figures in prizemoney:

$1 million Group 1 TAB Doomben 10,000 on May 9
$1 million Group 2 Sires Stakes on May 23
$1.5 million Group 1 TAB Stradbroke on June 6
$1.5 million Group 1 EVA Air Q22 on June 6
$1 million Group 1 J.J. Atkins on June 6

In the space of a few months, the Carnival has added four new races worth at least $1 million. This provides the prizemoney support to a Carnival already known as the nursery of Australia’s future champions. Vow And Declare added to that reputation this year before his Melbourne Cup win.

This announcement ends a very positive year for the Brisbane Racing Club, marking 12 months since we returned to the new Eagle Farm racing surface. This track has performed in outstanding fashion throughout 2019, including nine days ago when track records were produced less than 24 hours after a 50mm downpour from a storm. We thank Mick Goodie and the BRC track staff for their continued work at Eagle Farm and Doomben to produce quality racing surfaces.

We have much to celebrate across 2019 but the year isn’t over – Saturday’s race meeting at Eagle Farm promises to be excellent. We have two Group 3 races, two Listed races and a total of four races that will provide wildcards into the Magic Millions card on the Gold Coast on January 11.

The Brisbane Racing Club wishes you and your families a very happy Christmas and a prosperous 2020. We look forward to seeing you at the races in 2020.
