Spirit of Boom in the spotlight

In what shapes to be a bumper Oscar Oscar Salons Ladies Raceday, four-year-olds Phantom Court and Boom Spender are keen contenders in their respective races.

As Spirit of Boom’s son Jonker prepares for a shot at Group One glory in tonight’s Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley, the champion Eureka Stud stallion also has a few hopes at Doomben on Saturday.

The Robert Heathcote trained Phantom Court takes on a competitive field in the Heartfit BM70 Handicap and will be looking to go one better than her last start second at the Sunshine Coast earlier this month, with in-form apprentice Jaden Lloyd to take the ride.

In the last race of the day Boom Spender will look to make it two wins on end for the red hot combination of Desleigh Forster and Jim Byrne. After scoring a one-and-a-half lengths win in a Benchmark 80 on XXXX Queensland Cup Raceday the gelding is currently rated a $7 chance to repeat the dose in this week’s SQS Haulage Class 6 Handicap.

Good luck to all Eureka Stud progeny racing this weekend.
