The following runners engaged today at Doomben have recently trialled in the South East Queensland area. Below is an alphabetical listing and summary of the trial.

Race 2 12.08pm Peachchester Lodge 2yo Plate 1200m.
No.5 Beauregard – (G. Heinrich) – 2nd (1.25L) 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m 2yo trial Good (TR 97)
First start. Jumped well, up on the lead early before let drift back to 3rd 2 lengths away off the fence. Cornered for home 2nd however 3 lengths behind the stablemate (Perfect Quality), closed the margin with both he and the winner only coasting to the line.
No.7 Perfect Quality – (G. Heinrich) – 1st (1.25L) 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m 2yo trial Good (TR 97)
First start. Jumped well wide out pushing on to cross and lead almost 2 lengths. Steadied soon after however off and running again into the straight out 3 lengths clear, only coasted down to the line jockey switching right off late, plenty more to offer.

No.2 Meet Mr Taylor – (K. Schweida) – 4th (3.95L) 26/3 Doomben 840m Open trial Good (TR 114)
Resuming. Jumped well, eased soon after to settle 4th fence 3 lengths away. Length further back straight, held ground wasn’t asked for a great deal.
No.10 Johnny Whitesox – (C. Munce) – 3rd (1.2L) 26/3 Doomben 840m Open trial Good (TR 96)
Resuming. Jumped ok off the inside gate settled down 3rd rail quickly improving (pulling) 2 lengths. Railed through to a clear lead into the straight under a big grip, collared late jock didn’t move a muscle.
Race 4 1.18pm Big Difference Consulting Benchmark 75 Handicap 1615m.
No.7 Miss Shanti – (C. Waller) – Last of 7 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 107)
Resuming. Jumped only averagely settled down clear last 4 lengths off second last 10 lengths from the leader. Couple of lengths closer straight, held ground asked for nothing in the run home only out for the exercise.
No.15 Borazon – (C. Waller) – 5th 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Class 2 trial Good (TR 99)
Let-up. Jumped ok, soon out the back as expected settling down last 7 lengths off the lead. Still last into the straight, under a good grip 250m closed off nicely.
Race 5 1.53pm Aquis Tails Stakes 1615m.
No.2 Exoteric – (C. Waller) – Last of 6 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 108)
Resuming. Jumped only averagely and settled well back as expected in last place 11 lengths away. Similar straight, held ground under a hold only out for the exercise.
Race 6 2.28pm TAB Ascot Handicap 1200m.
No.2 I’m A Rippa – (T. Gollan) – 2nd (6.0L) 2/4 Deagon 1000m Open trial Soft (TR 117.5)
Resuming. Jumped ok, quickly on the move up disputing the lead however couldn’t cross leader settling a length away 2nd. Margin almost 3 lengths before the turn, further straight held ground wasn’t asked to give chase.
No.4 Coldstone – (T. Gollan) – 2nd (0.2L) 2/4 Deagon 1000m Open trial Soft (TR 108)
Resuming. Jumped well, settled back to 3rd 2 lengths away. Urged before turn, cornered a length further back, drove late just missing out given a fairly easy time.
No.5 Keen Array – (T. Edmonds) – 1st (0.5L) 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 107)
Resuming. Jumped well, straight up on the lead settled down 2nd off the fence a neat length away. Travelled well turn, given a slight urge levelled up late coming away marginally to the line however 2nd placed (Whypeeo) was also given an easy time.
No.6 Petrology – (M. Dunn) – 5th 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 108)
Resuming. Jumped only averagely settled back second last 10 lengths off the lead. Still well back to the turn, only ambled down the straight asked for absolutely nothing.
No.8 No Annamossity – (R. Heathcote) – 4th (2.8L) 26/3 Doomben 1000m Open trial Good (TR 109.5)
Resuming. Jumped ok, no rush settled back second last just over 5 lengths from the lead. Asked to improve turn, widest runner straight, few cracks kept coming to the line, pressured to do so though.
Race 7 3.07pm Sprit Of Boom Mick Dittman Plate 1110m.
No.1 Ef Troop – (T. Gollan) – 1st (3.25L) 26/3 Doomben 840m Open trial Good (TR 114)
Resuming. Jumped well, pushed on to lead albeit marginally off the fence. Ran 2 lengths clear crossing to the rail soon after, urged a little down the straight was never in any danger of defeat.
No.2 The Fire Trap – (M. Dunn) – 4th 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 96)
Resuming. Taken hold of at the start no rush whatsoever settled down last only 5 lengths off the lead. Similar into the straight, hit the line nicely late under a good grip.
Race 8 3.47pm Ray White Ascot Princess Stakes 1615m.
No.3 Baccarat Baby – (D. Vandyke) – 1st (4.0L) 9/4 Sunshine Coast 850m Open trial Soft (TR 109)
Let up. Jumped only averagely settled back last quietly ridden 3 lengths off the lead. Saved ground around the turn, room to come through last 250m, cruised through last 150m coasting clear to the line.
No.5 Tatcee – (C. Waller) – 2nd (0.75L) 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 96)
Freshened. Jumped ok, no rush at all from the gate settled second last barely 4 lengths from the lead off the fence. Similar straight easing clear soon after, closed off very nicely last 150m cutting back the margin all under her own steam.
Race 9 4.27pm TAB Benchmark 85 Handicap 1350m.
No.11 Bel Burgess – (D. Murphy) – 3rd (0.85L) 26/3 Doomben 840m Open trial Good (TR 101)
Resuming. Jumped ok, on the move soon after rushed up to lead marginally off the fence. Back to 2nd before turn, cornered just over a length away, took care of the leader however couldn’t go with the first couple who swept down the outside (Natch & I’ve Gotta Nel).
No.5 Zofonic Dancer – (R. Heathcote) – 6th (3.9L) 26/3 Doomben 1000m Open trial Good (TR 109)
Resuming. Jumped ok off the inside urged along settled 4th fence 3 lengths away. Closing ground before the turn, plenty of room to go through straight, quickly under pressure urged along gave ground to the line.
No.10 Happy Go Plucky – (J. Gilmore) – 4th 8/4 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Good (TR 108)
Resuming. Jumped ok, settled a distant 4th 8 lengths off the lead. Length closer straight trying to make some ground on the leading trio, did so without threat.
