Trial Report for Runners on Saturday 8 September 2018

The following runners engaged today at Doomben have recently trialled in the South East Queensland area. Below is an alphabetical listing and summary of the trial.

All Pluck – Race 1

Race 1 11.47pm St. Margaret’s Anglican Girls School Benchmark 70 Handicap 1050m.

No.3 Rich Affair – (C. Meagher) – 3rd (1.6L) 30/8 Deagon 1000m Open trial Good (TR 106)
Resuming (132 days). Jumped well, straight to the front settled marginal leader fence. Kept honest however travelled well enough 400m, almost line of four into the straight, headed 100m however wasn’t asked for any effort jock happy to cruise home 3rd.

No.4 Bold Chance – (R. Heathcote) – 2nd (0.1L) 30/8 Deagon 1000m Open trial Good (TR 105)
Resuming (161 days). Jumped well, led briefly before balancing up a close 2nd outside the leader. No change to the turn, levelled up early straight, urged only marginally just missed on the line, certainly not pushed out by any means.

No.5 All Pluck – (T. Gollan) – 3rd (2.6L) 21/8 Doomben 1000m Open trial Good (TR 110)
Resuming (129 days). Jumped ok, not bustled held the fence albeit 2nd last only 3 lengths off the lead. Cornered closer with room to come through, urged along 200m moved to a clear 2nd before being shaded for that spot on the line.

 

Race 2 12.22pm Clear Insurance Benchmark 80 Handicap 1200m.

No.7 Martinelli – (C. Munce) – 2nd (2.5L) 21/8 Doomben 1000m Open trial Good (TR 110)
Resuming (147 days). Jumped well, content to settle 2nd off the fence barely a length away. Livened up into the straight trying to get on terms however the leader kicked away & this back to 3rd soon after, ridden along came again late to regain 2nd placing.

 

Race 4 1.32pm UMS School Wear 3yo Fillies Handicap 1200m.

No.3 Asharani – (D. Vandyke) – Equal last of 5 (3.55L) 14/8 Sun Coast 850m Open trial Good (TR 100)
Let up (59 days). Jumped just ok, restrained settling down last barely 4 lengths off the lead in a bunched field. Similar into the straight, held ground under a tight hold throughout, asked for absolutely no effort whatsoever.

 

Race 6 2.42pm Oscan Radiology Clinics Class 6 Plate 1200m.

No.2 Johnny Whitesox – (C. Munce) – 1st (0.1L) 21/8 Doomben 840m Open trial Good (TR 99)
Resuming (146 days). Jumped only averagely, settled a clear last 6 lengths off the lead. Stayed rail into the straight saved good ground to level up before the 100m, hit the lead soon after just cruised to the line scoring narrowly with plenty in the tank.

No.4 So Skilled – (M. Webb) – 2nd (1.5L) 30/8 Deagon 1000m Open trial Good (TR 106)
Resuming (189 days). Jumped ok settled down 2nd last fence not being bustled at all 5 lengths from the lead. Closer turn with the field bunching, clear running final 120m hit the line well without being pressured to any extent.

No.6 Bryneich – (C. Anderson) – 1st (1.25L) 21/8 Doomben 1000m Open trial Good (TR 104)
Resuming (98 days). Jumped ok no rush settled 4th off the fence 3 lengths from the lead. Moving closer approaching the turn, 3 deep for home closing in soon after, urged to the lead came clear final 100m, was pressured to do so though.
