Vale Ross Tinniswood

It is with sadness the Brisbane Racing Club reports the passing of long-time member ROSS TINNISWOOD following a short illness.

Ross began attending Brisbane racetracks in the early 1960s.  As soon as he turned 21, Ross became a member of Queensland Turf Club (in 1970), before he was also invited to join Brisbane (Amateur) Turf Club in 1975.

He was elected to the Board of the Brisbane Turf Club in 2008.  Ross continued his membership with BRC following the merger and thus accumulated over 50 years of service as a member of Brisbane racing clubs.

Ross was a strong advocate for the merger of Brisbane’s two Clubs. It gave him great joy when the amalgamation finally occurred in 2009.

Ross attended race meetings throughout Australia and was an avid photographer; in later years he was a familiar sight at the track taking many snaps which he used to promote racing on his Facebook page where he attracted many followers.

Ross was a medical scientist by profession, working with Queensland Health for several decades.

Ross is survived by his wife Pam, and his children, James, Emily and Harry, and their families.

BRC Board and Executive extend heartfelt condolences to them all.  Ross will be sadly missed by his many friends at the track.
