Wednesday Wrap-up - Doomben 15 June, 2022

It is only early but Stradbroke Season form lines are already being used to find a winner.

There was a good push in betting today for the Toby & Trent Edmonds trained Corfe Castle as the two-year-old scored an impressive victory in Doomben’s second event.

It wasn’t hard to see why the money came for the son of Better Than Ready, having just one start before today’s race, a one-length second to Johnny Rocker, who stepped off that race to convincingly win the Listed Oxlade Stakes on Stradbroke Day.

It was the first leg of a winning double for Fradd, who was able to sit outside the lead in the last on Avolonte for the Stuart Kendrick stable and snare the major end of the prize.

Jim Byrne claimed a race-to-race double across races four and five, steering home Argyle Pink (Tony Gollan) and Rapid Response (Kris Lees), both winning by narrow margins.

Not to be outdone was premiership leader James Orman, who ensured he maintained his four win metropolitan premiership lead over Byrne with victories on Spirit of Milan (Danny Bougoure) and Majestic Colour (Kelly Schweida).

The other events on Doomben’s mid-week card were taken out by King Hammurabi (Jason Edwards) and Petunia (Kelly Schweida).
