Wednesday Wrap-Up - Eagle Farm - 29 June, 2022

Jockey James Orman claimed his second mid-week double in as many weeks, backing up two wins at Doomben last Wednesday with two more today at Eagle Farm.

The first of today’s victories came aboard Cool Kaap, the Chris Waller trained colt impressing in Coolmore colours on debut, drawing clear in the last 100m to win by a length.

A mere two rides later Orman notched his second win, Zumikon (Lindsay Gough) coming off consecutive placings in higher grade to claim victory today.

Deagon based trainer Jason Edwards scored a double of his own boasting a 100% strike rate at today’s Eagle Farm meeting.

King Hammurabi made it back-to-back wins, tasting success in his first race at Eagle Farm. No doubt appreciating the 2kg claim of Adin Thompson the gelding lead all the way in its 1400m contest.

$15 chance The Love Rocket claimed the second leg of Edwards’ training double. Jockey Ben Thompson timed his run perfectly aboard the four-year-old mare executing a last-to-first victory in the seventh event.

Go Wandji returned from a spell in emphatic fashion today, the four-year-old gelding easily accounting for his competitors in the Class 5 Handicap. The Tom Dougall/Larry Cassidy combination once again proved lethal, scoring a two-length victory.

Honours were shared amongst Eagle Farm trainers in today’s other Maiden contests with Mista Omega (Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted), Bulikov (Robert Heathcote) and Out Back Boom (Chris Anderson) all breaking through for their local stables.

There was no joy for punters in the last race of the day with $61 shot Painted Black (Christopher Zintilis) edging out the win in a blanket finish.

The Eagle Farm track now enjoys more than a fortnight break, with racing returning to headquarters for Members Rewards day on 16 July, 2022.
