Welcome Oscar Oscar Salons

Brisbane Racing Club’s official Fashions on the Field partner for 2021

Brisbane Racing Club is proud to welcome one of Brisbane’s best known luxe style brands Oscar Oscar Salons as its official Fashions on the Field partner for 2021 racing.

Under the partnership, Oscar Oscar Salons Fashions on the Field competitions will take centre stage on each of the six race days of the upcoming Stradbroke Season presented by TAB (1 May - 12 June) and during spring racing later in the year.

The man behind the Oscar Oscar brand, twice-awarded Australian Hairdresser of the Year Oscar Cullinan, opened his first hairdressing salon in Brisbane’s CBD in 1989. More than three decades on, he now has 14 salons across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Melbourne which attract an A-list clientele, including regular racegoers. Oscar himself has styled the tresses of many celebrities, from Jesinta Campbell and Miranda Kerr to Jade Jagger and Courtney Love.

With the theme of this year’s Stradbroke Season presented by TAB celebrating Brisbane and the best that it has to offer, Oscar said the new partnership with BRC was a perfect fit.

“Brisbane has grown into this great, big, wonderful city, and the Oscar Oscar brand has grown with it,” he said. “We are an iconic brand in the hairdressing world within Brisbane and beyond. This is a very good fit for us and I am very excited about our association.
“I’ve been to the races many times, particularly in Melbourne, and I’ll be trackside in Brisbane during the season with bells on.”
When it comes to racing fashion, Oscar says impeccable hair styling is just as important as hats and headpieces.

“There was a time I think when a hat or headpiece dominated a look but that’s not so much the case now. It’s more about creating a complete look from head to toe that comes together in a way that’s engaging, a bit innovative and ultimately breathtakingly beautiful.
“Hairstyling is a big component and how the hair is incorporated with a fascinator or headpiece or hat. There are no set rules about which comes first. You could first choose the hairstyle and build a headpiece around that, or it can be done in the reverse. It’s all part of achieving the perfect look with the outfit, shoes, accessories and make-up.”

Hosting the Oscar Oscar Salons Fashions on the Field on each race day during Stradbroke Season presented by TAB is BRC’s longtime style-savvy Ambassador Damien Anthony Rossi.

“I'm extremely excited to see the kaleidoscope of fashion that will come through the gates. I get such a buzz when I arrive at each raceday,” he said.

“This year marks my fifth as an Ambassador with BRC and, since the beginning in 2016, I have seen the bar on the fashion stakes raised progressively higher and higher to the point where we are giving Melbourne and Sydney racing fashionistas a real run for their money.

“The aspirational and glamorous Oscar Oscar Salons brand is the perfect fit for this year’s Fashions on the Field and the prizes are amazing.

“I’d encourage racegoers to enter, and also encourage everyone joining us at the track to dress to impress and express their unique, personal style. I guarantee it will enhance your raceday experience!”
