Are You Lonesome Tonight
Join us for a magical night at Eagle Farm Racecourse as the Brisbane Racing Club hosts Opera Queensland’s final performance of its touring production Are You Lonesome Tonight.
The show is a celebration of opera and country music, weaving a story of life on the road and featuring the arias of master opera composers such as Puccini and Verdi and songs by country music legends Slim Dusty, Dolly Parton and more.
Three of Australia’s finest young performers make up the cast: versatile soprano Irena Lysiuk, singer-songwriter Marcus Corowa and musical theatre performer and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Hickey.
By the time the show comes to Eagle Farm Racecourse it will have travelled about 8000 kilometres across Queensland and been performed in more than 30 communities and in a range of iconic locations, including the Roma Saleyards, the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame in Longreach and Winton’s Waltzing Matilda Centre.
Gates and food stalls open at 3:30pm. The performance starts at 5pm sharp.
